Ayot St Peter is little more than a hamlet west of Welwyn. John Loughborough Pearson designed a church on the medieval a site about half a mile away where there is still a graveyard (see final pictures), that burnt down a few years after in 1874 . The present “arts and crafts” church was designed by J.P. Seddon and built in 1875 and features many contemporary fittings, including the font, lectern, pulpit and much of the glass and chancel ceiling to Seddon’s designs. The screen is a later edition from 1908.
