Gadebridge [Grace] Baptist Church, Galley Hill, Hemel Hempstead

The previous church (1960-61) has been demolished and is being replaced (March 2015) by a new church, hall and small housing development designed by Molyneux Architects. This is now finished and the lower pictures show this completed building.

An independent church which meets in rooms behind the Community Centre in Adeyfield’s district centre.

Adeyfield Free Church (United Reformed Church) (Former), Leverstock Green Road, Hemel Hempstead

On the corner of St. Albans Road and Leverstock Green Road. The church dated from 1953 but was demolished in 2019. A new church centre is being built on Maylands Avenue due to open in Autumn 2019.

United Reformed Church, Darkes Lane, Potters Bar

A short walk north of the railway station, this is a church and hall of 1965 by The Haines Design Partnership.

St John’s Methodist Church, Baker St, Potters Bar

A short way south of the town centre a large hall and church complex. The church dates from 1940 with additions of 2005. The chancel stained glass by Goddard & Gibbs was installed in 1972.

Originally the site of a Primitive Methodist church, the current church dates from 1977.

Life Church (Baptist), King James Avenue, Cuffley

A short way north of the village centre and formerly known as the Free Church. It dates from 1965-67 and was designed by Cyril J. Greening of K.C. White & Partners.

Near QE2 Hospital in the south-east of the town.

Conerstone Church (Formerly West Watford Christian Fellowship), Vicarage Road, Watford

An independent church almost opposite Watford Football Club. It was built as a Wesleyan Mission Church in 1893.

Since these pictures were taken in 2015, it has been rebranded as the Cornerstone church (see lower images taken in November 2018).

Labour Church (former), Durban Road, Watford

A now defunct group based in the late 19th century working class movement with its roots in northern England. The “tin tabernacle” building of 1901, it is now a scout hut.
