St John the Baptist, Great Amwell
St Mary, Graveley
Set off to the east of the main road through this village a short way north of Stevenage. The nave is originally 12th century and the chancel 13th century. A north aisle and vestry was added by J Clarke in 1887. The vestry door was formerly the north door into the church.

St James, Goffs Oak
Built in 1862 and designed by Habershon and Pite, but recently considerably reordered. The church sits in one of the few older parts of the mainly 20th century suburbia of Goffs Oak. Glass doors at the west end give a pretty good view of the interior when it is locked.

St Mary, Gilston
Holy Trinity, Frogmore
St Mary the Virgin, Essendon
A hilltop village on the eastern edge of the Hatfield House estate. The current church was added to a tower of 1628, in 1882-1884 by William White. The east end was rebuilt in 1917 by C.J. Blomfield following zeppelin air raid damage. There is a Wedgwood font (not generally on view). I was lucky enough to also be taken up the tower to see the clock mechanism, bells, and the views of the churchyard from the top.
