Primitive Methodist Church (former), Common Road, Chorleywood now Chorleywood Arts Centre

Facing the Common, this is a chapel of 1893 closed in 1969 and sold in 1970 and converted to an arts centre. For some reason all the name and foundation stones have been crudely scratched out. Interestingly it is now used for regular Quaker meetings so is back in religious use for a period of time each week.

Christ Church, The Common, Chorleywood

Attractively placed on the northern edge of The Common. The original building was by Benjamin Ferrey dating from 1845 but in 1869-70 it was rebuilt by G.E. Street, with the spire added in 1881-82. Many original furnishings remain, especially in the chancel. A dominant church centre has been added to the south filling the space between church and school.

St John Fisher, Shire Lane, Chorleywood (Roman Catholic)

A curious building as it is a conversion of a domestic property called Hill Cottage built in 1895. Architecturally its importance is that the worship area is in an extension of 1905 designed by C.F.A. Voysey one of the key domestic architects in Britain around the turn of the 20th century.
