St John’s Methodist Church, Baker St, Potters Bar

A short way south of the town centre a large hall and church complex. The church dates from 1940 with additions of 2005. The chancel stained glass by Goddard & Gibbs was installed in 1972.

Originally the site of a Primitive Methodist church, the current church dates from 1977.

North Watford Methodist Church, The Harebreaks, Watford

Prominently sited at a road junction along the St Albans Road in North Watford. It dates from 1927-28 and was designed by Arthur Brocklehurst and (according to the local listing but not the foundation plaque) Charles Stanley Peach .

St Paul Methodist Church (Former), Turpins Rise, Stevenage

At the end of a cul-de-sac in the Broadwater district of Stevenage. As of April 2024 it is up for sale , so presumably closed.

St John Methodist (former), Chells Way, Stevenage now Stevenage Resource Centre

Built in 1964, the congregation joined with the Anglican church round the corner in 1975, iniially using both buildings. This one was then sold and is now the Stevenage Resource Centre.

Listed building details

Christchurch, Bedford Road, Hitchin (Methodist and United Reformed)

Just north of the town centre it was built in 1968-69 to replace  the former Methodist churches at Brand Street  and Nightingale Road  and  Queen Street Congregational church. The alignment of the interior has been switched round by 90 degrees with ancillary buildings added on the north side in 2001, designed by Lewis Patten.

Bushey and Oxhey Methodist, Chalk Hill, Bushey

Built in 1905, with the entrance area redeveloped in 2007. The galleries have been boxed in and a semi circular ceiling built between them. The architects were C. Bell Withers and Meredith.

St Andrew Methodist, High Road, Bushey Heath

At the eastern end of Bushey Heath. Its dates from 1967-68 replacing a building of 1891 on a nearby site and now demolished.
